BLAKESBURG — Marjorie Glendean Cloyd, 92, died Oct. 1, 2009, at Bickford Cottage in Burlington. She was born Jan. 11, 1917, in Davis County to Russell S. and Hazel D. Selman Hardy. She married Lawrence W. Cloyd Oct. 9, 1937, in Lancaster, Mo. A 1936 graduate of Blakesburg High School, she was a homemaker and lived in the Ottumwa and Blakesburg area until 2004 when she moved to Burlington to be closer to her daughter. She was a former member of Eastern Star Ottumwa Chapter 112 and Social Order of the Beauceant. She attended Church of the Brethren and loved gardening and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed doing several different types of needlework and crafts. Survivors include one son, Garry (Sharon) Cloyd of Pleasant Hill; two daughters, Linda Bowdish of Slidell, La., and Kima (Jim) Miller of Burlington; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence W. Cloyd, and her parents, Russell S. and Hazel D. Hardy. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Robertson-Jay Funeral Home; Pastor John Bremer officiating. Burial will be in Blakesburg Cemetery. Open visitation begins noon Friday with the family present from 6-7 p.m. Friday. Memorials may be made to Burlington Hospice or Blakesburg Cemetery Associatin.
