Madeline Gobble
OTTUMWA — Madeline E. Gobble, 97, of 1018 W. Second St., died at 10 p.m. July 30, 2009, at Vista Woods Care Center.Madeline was born in Eddyville, Iowa, May 1, 1912, to Earl and Elizabeth Brown McElroy. She was a resident of Eddyville, Blakesburg and Ottumwa area, raised on three farms before moving to Ottumwa. Madeline married Leonard O. Gobble Jan. 30, 1929, in Bloomfield, Iowa. Leonard died May 29, 1988. Also preceding her in death are her mother and father and a sister, Wilodean Ginsburg. Madeline is survived by two sons, Gary (Connie) Gobble of Ottumwa and Larry (Toni) Gobble of Rhodes, Iowa; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a niece, Sandi Tiegs; and a sister-in-law, Edith Hiatt.Madeline enjoyed spending time with her family, working in her yard and watching the birds at her feeders. Madeline was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church.Graveside services and burial will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Shaul Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.Open visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at Reece Funeral Home. The family will be at the funeral home from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday prior to the graveside service.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Heart Association.
