OTTUMWA — Gladys R. Chilton, 87, of Ridgewood Nursing and Rehab Center, formerly of 910 W. Second St., died at 11:25 a.m. July 23, 2009, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.She was born Jan. 11, 1922, in Mahaska County to Charles and Eva Moline Chilton.A graduate of Eddyville High School and Normal Training, she taught in the Wapello County Rural Schools. She and Eileen Brandon were partners in interior design business for over 40 years. Gladys was a member of Willard Street United Methodist Church and Mary Circle of her church. She was active in the Wapello County Democratic Party and was a volunteer with Ottumwa Regional Health Center Auxiliary.Surviving are a brother, Kenneth Chilton of rural Oskaloosa and a sister, Nancy Maxwell of East Moline, Ill. She was preceded in death by an infant brother, William Keith Chilton. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Luers officiating. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery in Eddyville. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the family present from 6-8 p.m. Monday.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Willard Street United Methodist Church.
