OTTUMWA — Gary W. Houk, 69, of 416 S. Ferry St., died at 4:29 p.m. June 4, 2009, at his home.He was born May 22, 1940, in Ottumwa to Bernie and Myrtle Hall Houk. He married Karla A. Caviness March 4, 1963.A graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1958, he was a route salesman for Lowenberg Bakery and for Tombstone Pizza, retiring in 2002.Gary was a member of Willard St. United Methodist Church. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and playing the trombone.Surviving is his wife, Karla; two sons, Jeff Houk and Ron Houk, both of Ottumwa; two grandchildren, Mitchell Houk and Lynsey Houk.He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, his twin Larry Houk and Jim Houk; his sister, Jean Nickel.His body has been cremated.Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Luers officiating.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa, 103 E. Van Buren St., Centerville, Iowa 52544-1723.
