OTTUMWA — William E. "Bill" Eaton, 76, of 2901 W. U.S. Hwy 83, Mc Allen, Texas, formerly of Ottumwa, May 21, 2009, at Baylor Medical Center at Garland, Texas.He was born July 18, 1932, in Ottumwa to Edward and Janet Teague Eaton. He married Mary Jo Piper Nov. 20, 1954, in Bremerton, Wash.A graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1950, he served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict aboard the USS Hancock.He was an employee of Northwestern Bell for 31 years, retiring as a supervisor in 1986. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Edinburg, Texas, and had been a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Ottumwa.Surviving is his wife, Mary Jo; a daughter, Terri (Barry) Pearson of Eden Prairie, Minn.; a sister, Sarah (Marvin) Crady Sr. of Ottumwa and a brother, Charles (Alice Bennett) Eaton of Ottumwa.He was preceded in death by two infant sons, William Aaron Eaton and Scott Martin Eaton and a sister, Mary Overturf.Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Mel Kendall and Pastor Ray Potter officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Memorial Township Cemetery in Fremont with military services conducted by O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion and Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars.Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home with the family present from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fellowship Baptist Church, Edinburg, Texas
