Clark Tish OTTUMWA--Clark E. Tish, 80, of 2115 N. Elm St., passed away at his home Jan. 10, 2009. He was born Sept. 10, 1928 to Edward and Ena Auten Tish at the family home in Searsboro, Iowa. Clark married Evelyn Fox in Iowa City on Feb. 14, 1954. She preceded him in death Sept. 19, 2001. Clark served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He lived 49 years in Cedar Rapids working at Culver Motors and McGrath Pontiac as service manager and also at Colonial Bakery. Clark enjoyed sports and could tell you about all kinds of trivia. He played basketball and baseball in high school and never lost the "fever." He was an avid Cubs fan and would have like to see them go to the World Series. He also was a Hawkeye fan and never missed a game whether on radio or TV. He attended athletic games at Indian Hills Comm. College, especially the softball and basketball games. He looked forward to helping take tickets at the Warrior basketball games. Clark enjoyed cooking. He had fond memories of his cooking classes while stationed in Japan. His favorite dish to make was potato salad for the grandkids. He attended church regularly and enjoyed the various activities where he could chat. Clark was presented with a plaque commemorating 30 years of service to Trinity United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids. After moving to Ottumwa in 2003, he joined First United Methodist Church. He is survived by a daughter, Jennifer (Steve) Parsons; two grandsons, Adam (Brandi) Parsons of Williamsburg, Iowa, and Thomas Parsons of Kansas City, Mo.; two brothers, Wesley (Sherri) Tish of Winterset, Iowa, and Richard Gilbertson of Searsboro, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Glema Livezey and Evelyn Mikles. Clark enjoyed meeting people, talking to his brothers and going to family gatherings, visits from the grandsons, walking his springer spaniel pal, Bud. He was a supportive parent and always was there when you needed him. He will be missed by his family and many friends. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home with Dr. Gary Armstrong officiating. Graveside service and burial will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 2600 Muscatine Ave., in Iowa City. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the family present from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to Indian Hills Comm. College Foundation or Heartland Humane Society.
