ROSEMARY SWEENEY KNOX

Rosemary Catherine Knox, 84, of Loveland, Colorado died of heart failure on Jan 29, 2002 at her home.

She was born March 3, 1917, in Red Lodge, Mont., the daughter of William Sweeney and Mamie C. Feehan Sweeney of Ottumwa, Iowa. After the unexpected death of her mother in 1923, Rosemary moved to Ottumwa where she was raised by her grandmother, Mrs. John T. Feehan, and her aunt, Miss Statia Feehan. She was also the granddaughter of William and Catherine Sweeney and the great-granddaughter of Patrick and Mary Larkin, all of Ottumwa.

She graduated from Ottumwa High School and Ottumwa Heights College prior to her marriage in 1937 to William H. Knox. They were later divorced in 1967. Three children were born to them.

The family moved to Boulder Colorado in 1952 where Mrs. Knox became an assistant librarian at the University of Colorado, a position she would hold for 35 years. In 1991 she moved to Loveland. She enjoyed reading, traveling, studying history and her two dogs.

She is survived by two sons, David Knox and wife Susan Johnson of Loveland and John Knox of Longmont; a daughter, Rosanne Knox-Turk and husband Gordon of Loveland; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Sweeney, and a brother, William Sweeney.

Viewing will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to service time Friday at the Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home, with Chaplain Brenda Fleagle of Hospice of Larimer County officiating. Burial will be at Loveland Burial Park. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to a charity of the donor's choice.
