Mrs. Mary Strain 75, of 1005 West Second Street; wife of Thomas C. "Clyde" Strain died at 6:05 p.m. Friday at St. Joseph's hospital.

The daughter of Thomas and Sarah Lanigan Whalen; she was born in Ottumwa Jan. 13, 1884 and lived here her entire life. For many years she taught in local schools.

She was married to Clyde Strain on Nov. 27, 1930 at St. Mary's Catholic church. She was a member of St. Mary's and of the Alter and Rosary society.

Besides her husband she is survived by a niece Mary Graham Abernathy who lived in the Strain home, and another niece and three nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. at St. Mary's church with the Rev. W.E. Cullinan officiating the high requiem mass. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Eugene Whalen, Farrell Whalen, Forrest Johnson, Nick Nelswanger, John Strain, and Park Sullivan.
