OTTUMWA — Helen J. Hartley, 75, of 102 W. Finley, died at 6:48 p.m. June 28, 2008 at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center.She was born Feb. 26, 1933 in Chicago, Ill. to William M. and Sylvia Fletcher Ruby. She married George Hartley April 30, 1953. He preceded her in death Jan. 10, 1994.She was involved in the Foster Grandparent Program. She was a member of Faternal Order of Eagles Aerie #114 Auxiliary, Walter B. Schafer Post No. 775 Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and Coodies.Surviving are a son, Richard (Pennie) Hartley of Ottumwa and a daughter, Barbara (James) Mason of Bloomfield; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her brother, Paul Ruby.Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Schlotter officiating. Burial will be in Ottumwa Cemetery.Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.Memorials may be made to the family.
