MRS. HUSTON DIES: WIFE OF PUBLISHER

Mrs. John Huston 81, widow of the former publisher of the Ottumwa Courier; died at 2:oo p.m. Thursday at Woodlawn Nursing home at Waterloo.

Mrs. Huston had been in ill health for several months and entered the Waterloo Home a few weeks ago. Her home was at 167 Alta Vista in Waterloo.

She was born Rose Meany December 11, 1883 in Northern Iowa; the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Meany. She received her high school education in Chillicothe, Mo.

She and Mr. Huston were married Aug. 24, 1909 at Ottumwa. He died in 1957.

Mrs. Huston was active in St. Mary's Catholic church and in various community programs. She served 28 years as a member of the Borad of Trustees of the Ottumwa Public library, retiring in 1961. She was past member of St. Mary's Alter and Rosary Society; the Catholic Daughters and Diocesan Council of Catholic Women of Ottumwa.

Surviving are two children; Bernard J. Huston of ottumwa, and Mrs. George W. Scully of Waterloo; six grandchildren, one great grandson, two sisters; Mrs. Patrick Savage and Mrs. Leo Bremhorst of Ottumwa, and a brother Bernard Meany of Sioux Falls, S.D.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev.W.E. Cullinan officiating the service. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
