OTTUMWAN KILLED IN AUTO ACCIDENT

Richard W. Christy 20, a Coc~Swain in the Navy was killed in a auto accident in San Francisco last Friday night.

He was the son of Mrs. John E. Troette of 1407 Albia Road. He was born in Agency and later lived in Ottumwa.

Christy enlisted in the Navy here June 3, 1943. During the war he served in New Guinea and the Admiralty Islands. He re-enlisted and had one more year of service.

Surviving are his wife Barbara; his mother and step-father; two sisters; Helen Christy and Mary Christy of Ottumwa; a nephew Jimmy Evans; grandparents; Ephriam Christy of Ottumwa and Mrs. Flora Troette of of Eldon.

He was preceded in death by his father Wallace Christy and by one brother Donald.

Funeral services for Richard W. Christy Seaman first class will be held at the Johnson funeral chapel at 2 p.m. Monday conducted by Chaplain Edwin N. Faye of the Ottumwa Naval pre-flight school. Burial will be in Batavia Cemetery.
