OTTUMWA - Jack Howard Hartley, 75, of Ottumwa died May 5, 2005 at his home.
He was born April 30, 1930 in Ottumwa to Clyde and Edith Hartley.

He married Roberta LaVonne Hamersley Aug. 24, 1952 in Ottumwa. She preceded him in death Jan. 9, 1993. He then married Beverly Jean Garret, Jan. 6, 1994. She preceded him in death Feb. 24, 2005.

He was a life long resident of Ottumwa, a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved to play his guitars and had his own band. He loved to dance and traveling to Texas and Mexico during the winter months. He loved to hunt and fish and anything with the outdoors.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict; was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. , a member of the American Legion and a member of Four Square Church.
He worked many years for John Morrell Co. and later retired from John Deere.

He is survived by three sons; Jim Potter (Patty) Jack (Carla) Hartley and Rod (Renee) Hartley all of Ottumwa; two daughters, Becky (Bob) Mays of Geneseo, Ill. and Kay (Jeff) Lloyd of Ottumwa; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers, John (Barb) Hartley of Ottumwa and Bill Hartley of Des Moines; and a sister, Marilyn Shepard of Bakerfield, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Mark Steven Hartley and a sister, Gertrude Huff.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Johnson Funeral Chapel with Rev. Viola King Officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery with military graveside services conducted by the Walter B. Schaeffer Post # 775 of the V.F.W. and the American Legion O.B. Nelson Post # 3.

Pall bearers will be Brandon Hartley, Clint Hartley, Eric Hartley, Matt Easton, Trenton Easton and Cody Barton.
Visitation begins at noon Sunday at the Johnson Funeral Chapel, with family present from 2 to 4 p.m.
A memorial has been established to Foursquare Evangelistic Church.
