Charles E. Scott 81, of 134 S. Webster, died Sunday at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Hospital following a four month length illness.

He had farmed in the Hedrick area for many years prior to his retirement. He was the son of Erastus Scott Christina Buchanan Scott, born July 20, 1885 in Keokuk County. He was a resident of Ottumwa for the past 10 years. He married Lena Winpigler September 8, 1904 in Ottumwa. She survives.

Also surviving are one son Earl Scott of Hedrick Route 2; one daughter Irene Freeman of Ottumwa; one grandson Jack Scott of Hedrick Route 2; one grandaughter Agnes Owings of Ottumwa; one great grandaughter Linda Owings of Ottumwa, and one sister Nellie Gregg of Rhodes.

She was preceded in death by four brothers.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Brown GarLock pastor of the Wesley Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Brooks emetery near Hedrick.

Pall bearers will be Merle Sutton,Herald Hankammer, Harry Leonard, Everette Beiveal, and Rex Abel.

The casket will be closed at the beginning of the service.
