OTTUMWA — David Allen Skinner, 63, of 16365 25th St., died April 30, 2008 at his home.He was born Aug. 2, 1944 in Ottumwa to Lorin “Bonney” and Mary Isabelle Nation Skinner. He married Sandra Kay Renfrew June 4, 1965 in Ottumwa.

A graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1962, he served with the U.S. Air Force. He farmed and was a self-employed carpenter, having worked at Crescent Electric, O’Hara Hardware and Ottumwa School Systems. He and his wife were avid square dancers, and he enjoyed fixing machinery, collecting antique cars and helping others. Surviving is his wife, Sandra; a son and best friend, Timothy Allen (fiancée Stephanie Mitts) Skinner of Ottumwa; a daughter, Tracy (Greg) Spurgeon of Drakesville; four grandchildren, DeNita Skinner, Lawrence Ray Skinner, Collin Cooksey and Haylee Cooksey; and several extended family members.He was preceded in death by his parents; two half sisters, Helen Hayes and Lila Ann Wilkins.Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Saturday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Baker and Rev. Maurice Overturf officiating. Cremation will follow the services.Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Friday with the family present from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to Hospice, 312 E. Alta Vista or the American Cancer Society.
