Courtesy of the Ottumwa CourierOTTUMWA - Millicent L. "Milly" Doup Swope, 78, formerly of 311 Tacoma, died at 12:20 a.m., March 8, 2005, at Ottumwa Good Samaritan Nursing and Rehab Center.
She was born Oct. 11, 1926 in Ottumwa to Hiriam Houston and Ruby Louise Poole Doup. She married Anthony W. Swope Sr., Oct. 6, 1945. He preceded her in death Sept. 3, 2004.
She was a 1945 graduate of Ottumwa High School. She had resided in Ottumwa all of her life. She was a homemaker and devoted to raising her family. She was an active member of East End Presbyterian Church in her younger years.
Survivors include five daughters, Pam (Stan) Pattern of Texarkana, Texas, Penny Swope of Ottumwa, Sue (Fred) Meyer of Agency, Pat (Richard) Delauder of Mount Vernon, Ohio, Benita (Jim) Morrow of Perrysburg, Ohio; two sons, Anthony (Olivia) Swope Jr. of Cedar Rapids and Willard Swope of Wilderville, Ore.; 11 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and sister, Elizabeth Swartz of Ottumwa.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ben C. and Willard Doup; and two sisters, Sylvia Ross and infant Patricia Doup.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home with the Rev. Sue Babovec officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation will begin 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the family present from 5-7 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Ottumwa Good Samaritan Nursing and Rehab Center or Hospice, 312 E. Alta Vista; Ottumwa, IA 52501.
