OTTUMWA — James E. Rumans, 75, of 136 N. Davis, died at 4:20 a.m. Feb. 14, 2008, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines from injuries sustained in an auto accident.

He was born Jan. 29, 1933 in Versailles, Mo. to John and Elsie Bellamy Rumans. He married Janet E. Schooley Oct. 29, 1960 in Macon, Mo. She preceded him in death July 8, 2001.

He served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged from the Navy Nov. 1, 1956. He worked for John Morrell and Co.at Ottumwa, and was an over the road trucker and retired from John Deere Ottumwa Works in June of 1995.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and numerous adventures with his friends.Surviving are three sons, Jamie Rumans, Randy Jones, and Scott (Deb) Jones all of Ottumwa; nine grandchildren, Megan Jones of Ottumwa who was raised in the home, Johney Rumans, Ashley Rumans, Jesse Jones, Jessica Cain, Melia Mobley, Alicia Mobley, Jerry Jones, Lisa (Jeremy) Garrison; five great-grandchildren, Dakota Garrison, Hailey Garrison, Mason Collett, Michael Cain and Lauren Cain; two sisters, Laverna Riegel of Moravia and Shirley Brooke of Centerville.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. LuEllen Worth officiating. Burial will be in Unionville Cemetery with military rites conducted by Wil-Rog-Mor Post #407 American Legion.Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday with the family present from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday.Pallbearers will be Steve Wilkinson, Ronnie Thompson, Larry Songer, George Rumph, Jim Sanford, Mick Graham and Robert Schippers.A memorial has been established to Unionville Cemetery Association.
