Robert Miley
OTTUMWA — Robert S. Miley, 80, passed away Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008, at HospiceCare Center in Fitchburg, Wis. surrounded by his family.

He was born March 31, 1927 in Kirksville, Mo. to James M. Sr. and Lucile Santen Miley. He married Dolores L. Parsons April 10, 1949 at the First Presbyterian Church in Kirksville, Mo.Before moving to Madison, Wis. in March of 2002, Robert had been a longtime resident of Ottumwa.

He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army serving during W.W. II and being honorably discharged shortly thereafter. Robert worked for John Morrell and Co and Ottumwa Theater Company and retired as Assistant Chief of the Ottumwa Fire Department after 40 years of faithful service. Robert was a member of O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion, Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Empire Lodge #269 AF and AM and a lifelong member of East End Presbyterian Church. Robert was kind and compassionate and will be greatly missed by his loving family and many friends.Robert is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dolores of Waunakee, Wis.; two daughters, Sandra (Jack) McDermott of Madison, Wis. and Debra (Glenn) Ashby of Bettendorf; four grandchildren, Laurie (Rich) Lewandowski, Chad (Denise ) McDermott, Todd (Becca) Ashby and Aaron Ashby; three great-grandchildren, Shelby, Miley and Samantha plus other relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, James M. Miley Jr.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008, at Robertson-Jay Funeral Home with Joe S. Selix officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.Visitation with family will be Thursday from noon until 2 p.m. at Robertson-Jay Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial donations be made to HospiceCare Center, Inc., 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Madison, Wis.
