Obituary

Alfaretta Jane Broshar Hiner

Alfaretta Jane Broshar was born near Moravia, Iowa, May 13, 1860 and departed this life at the OTTUMWA Hospital, January 11, 1932, at the age of 71 years, 7 months and 27 days.

She was united in marriage with Lemley Hiner July 6, 1879. To this union 10 children were born. Four children and the husband preceded her in death. The husband passed away 13 years ago.

The children surviving and mourning her departure are Samuel H. Hiner, Hemingford, Nebr.; Loren Hiner, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Pearl, Jesse and Lew Hiner and Mrs. Florence Bogart of Moravia, Iowa. She also leaves fourteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, three sisters and two brothers.

Aunt Retta, as she was commonly called, spent her entire life in the vicinity. In early life she was united with the Christian church. She was a kind mother and grandmother and had a wide circle of friends who mourn her passing.

Funeral services were conducted from the Methodist Church in Moravia, Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 13th, at 2:00 o'clock, Rev. A. B. Hightshoe of Ottumwa officiating, Rev. B. G. Hankins assisting. Interment was made in the Fairview Cemetery.
