RIGHTS SATURDAY FOR ST-SGE WILLIAM HOUK

The body of ST-SGE William Max Houk will arrive by train Thursday at 4 p.m. and will be taken to the Johnson Funeral Chapel where military services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in charge of the Rev Bruce B. Matthews of the Davis Street Christian church. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.Pallbearers will be Jack Wishard, Bernard Barrier, Bernard Jones, Ben Houk Jr., John Dugan and Carl Jennings.

The son of Burt and Rose Houk he was born in Ottumwa February 11, 1918 and lived here all his life prior to entering service, and was an employee of John Morrell and CO.

He enlisted March 21, 1944 and went overseas March 23, 1944 with Company F 257th infantry, 90th division. He ws killed at Blosville, Normandy France June 14, 1944, after taking part in the D-Day invasion of Normandy.

Seargant Houk was married to Johneta Bollinger May 9, 1940. He is survived by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Bert Houk of 730 East Williams Street; and one sister; Mrs. Gladys Baayen of Ottumwa.
