OTTUMWA – Annabelle Beghtol, 82, formerly of 6202 Madison Ave., went home to be with Jesus at 11:30 a.m. December 16, 2007 at Ridgewood Nursing and Rehab Center.

She was born April 20, 1925 in Arkansas City, KS to Claude Edwin and Edith May Schamahorn Thomas. She married Willard D Beghtol Sr. June 14, 1947. He preceded her in death March 12, 2001.

A graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1943, she was a member of the Church of Christ on Adella St., Sweet Adelines and Ottumwa Women’s Club winning numerous ribbons in the flower shows. Surviving are her two sons, Willard Dee Beghtol and Robert T. (Sherri) Beghtol both of Ottumwa; a grandson, Brian; a brother, Sterling L. Thomas of Alpine, Calif. and a sister Donna Jean Hanshaw of Calhan, Colo.

She was preceded in death by a brother, George E. Thomas and a sister, Mary Louise Reese. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home with Don Kirchner officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice, 312 E. Alta Vista Ave., Ottumwa, IA 52501.
