Leonard C. (Lem) Stiles 82 of 814 West Thirst Street died Wednesday at 4:10 pm at Ottumwa Hospital where he had been a patient for seven and a half weeks.

He had been a resident of Ottumwa for more than sixty years and was a long time employee of Iowa Southern Utilities Co. He was employed in the meter department at the time of his retirement several years ago.

He was born Feb. 10, 1881, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Stiles. He and Anna Serowinsky were married in 1904 in Joplin, Mo. She died March 18, 1961.

Mr. Stiles was active in Masonic Work. He was a member of Impire Lodge No. 269, Clinton Chapter R.S.M., Malta Commandery No. 31, Kaaba Shrine at Davenport, and Hafed Gotto. He served Empire Lodge as treasurer for 40 years and was a past President of Ottumwa Shrine Club. He was also a member of The Order Of Eastern Star and Alow Twelve. He belonged to the Electrical workers Union.

Survivors include a daughter; Mrs. Christine Bishop of Cedar Rapids, Ia., a son Earl Stiles of Kenosha Wis., two grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

The service will be Friday at 3 pm. at the Reece Funeral Home with the Rev. C.S. Whitehouse, pastor of the Westmeinster Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Empire Lodge No. 269 will be in charge of Masonic Lodge.

Pallbearers will be Lloyd Frost, Cash Eddy, Dee Leedom, Dale Cox, George Rump and Don Davis.
