OTTUMWA — Louis B. Schuttlefield, age 84, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007, at the Keokuk County Health Center in Sigourney.

Visitation will be held at the Fremont Funeral Chapel Thursday, Dec. 6, from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.Funeral service will be private.

Louis was born Nov. 1, 1923 in Ottumwa, Iowa the son of Bert and Minnie Ragan Schuttlefield.He graduated from Fremont High School and completed two years at Iowa Success Business School in Ottumwa, Iowa.

He was united in marriage Aug. 31, 1944 at the First Congregational Church in Oskaloosa, Iowa, to Dorothy Vander Heiden.He began farming in 1947, in Wapello County. Louis was a member of the Arendt Bowlin Stubbs American Legion Post #83, Hedrick, Iowa. He enjoyed wintering in Zapata, Texas, however, his favorite pastime was attending sporting events and activities in which his grandchildren were participating. His family and farming were the most important things in his life.

His memory is honored by his wife, Dorothy; two sons, Warren (Janet) Schuttlefield of Ingleside, Ill., and Jon (Dianne) Schuttlefield of Ottumwa, Iowa; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Jon (Melissa), Scott, Katherine and Laura Schuttlefield.He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Willis; and a sister, Mary Tomlin.Memorials may be made in his name to the Arendt Bowlin Stubbs Post #83, Hedrick American Legion.Fremont Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.
