OTTUMWA — Visitation for Marilyn Edith Shepherd will be held at Christ Cathedral, 2301 White Lane, on Friday, Nov. 16, 2007, from 10 a.m. to noon with funeral services beginning at noon. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery.Marilyn was born Feb. 1, 1938 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Clyde and Edith Hartley and she passed away Nov. 12, 2007, in Bakersfield, Calif. She is preceded in death by both parents; sisters and brothers, Gertrude Huff of Iowa, Jack Hartley of Iowa and Bill Hartley of Iowa; and her son-in-law, James Edward Valladares.She is survived by her son, Marty Wayne Shepherd; son, Ray Irvin Shepherd; daughter and son-in-law, Christine Edith and Thomas Edward Hastin; daughter, Lisa Lin Valladares; brother, John Hartley of Ottumwa, Iowa; ten grandchildren, Desiree Ann, Dustin Wayne, Dillon Wade, Ray Irvin, Jr., Jennifer Lynn Torres and husband, Mario, Valerie Marie, Cherum Iris Edith, Chelcie Nichole, Janae Lin and James Edward Jr.; one great-grandchild, Joshua James as well as many families in Iowa.Marilyn attended Christ Cathedral for many years and she also worked for KMC Auxiliary which she was very proud of. She loved and enjoyed taking all of her grandchildren fishing, it was like taking them to church. The family would like to thank Hoffmann Hospice, they were like angels with wings spread in comfort, peace and love for us all. Also to Christ Cathedral for many visits of hope and the promise of Heaven and the love of Christ.
