OTTUMWA Courier Nov. 8, 2007— Bernard L. “Ozzie” Osborn, 76, of Muscatine, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007, at Unity Hospital.Funeral service will be 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2007, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home, 1931 Houser Street; Reverend Gene Leutzinger will officiate the service. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Ottumwa.Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 9, 2007, at the funeral home.Memorials may be made to Muskie Booster Club.Online condolences for the Osborn family may be left at www.wittichfuneralhome.com.“Ozzie” was born on Feb. 26, 1931, in Ottumwa, the son of Roy and Mildred Lundgren Osborn. He married Barbara J. Morrison on April 2, 1951, in Burlington. She preceded him in death in 2000.He was a 1949 graduate of Ottumwa High School. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict. “Ozzie” won the All Service Boxing Championship while in the service. He was an insurance agent and manager for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company for 33 years. He was a life member of the Elk’s Lodge No. 304 and was a past Exalted Ruler. He was also a member of the American Legion Post No. 27, the Muskie Booster Club and Hillcrest Baptist Church. He was co-founder of the Muscatine Boxing Club in the late ’60s. He truly enjoyed all Muscatine High School sports and loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was “Santa” to many people for over 20 years.“Ozzie” is survived by two sons, Randy R. Osborn of Muscatine and Frank A. Osborn and wife, Susan, of Davenport; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and one son, Jeffrey Osborn in 2004.
