Mrs. Quimby McCarty

Mrs. Mary McCarty, 83, of 621 W. Second, died today at 4:35 a.m. at the St. Joseph Hospital. She had fractured a hip two weeks ago.

The daughter of Valentine and Magdalene Reissinger, she was born in Germany July 14, 1878. She came to Wapello County when she was four years old and had lived here ever since.

She married Quimby McCarty April 2, 1895. He died in 1919.

Also preceding her in death war one daughter, Doris, in 1903, and one son, John Harold McCarty, September 21, 1961.

Surviving are her two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister Mrs. Magdalene Picken of Ottumwa.

Mrs. McCarty was a member of the German Lutheran Church.

The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Community Funeral Home, with the Rev. Harold Martin, pastor of the Presbyterian Church at Hedrick officiating. Burial will be in the McCormick Cemetery near Highland center.
