Veteran Farmer Dies at Age 86

John L. Picken, Lifelong Resident of Wapello County, Succumbs Sunday

John L. Picken, 86, veteran farmer and lifelong resident of Wapello County, died Sunday at 10:45 p.m. in his home in Richland Township.

Mr. Picken was born and Wapello County on August 28, 1852, the son of William and Frances Picken. He was married November 6, 1895 to Miss Magdalene Reissinger.

Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Tom Van Asch of Kirkville, Mrs. Roy A. Moon of Des Moines, and Mrs. Lyle Remmington of Huron S.D.; three sons, Keith of Spokane, Wash., Zellis G. of Newport, Ky., and Harold L. at home, and six grandchildren.

Services will be in W??? Church Tuesday at 2 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Lloyd Snyder of Ottumwa. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn cemetery.
