OTTUMWA — Eleanor Ruth Prose, 78, formerly of 10387 Angle Rd., died at 11:45 p.m. July 17, 2007, at Good Samaritan Nursing and Rehab Center.

She was born Sept. 27, 1928 in Chillicothe, Iowa to Eli Tennyson and Sarah Oletha Henness Mills. She married Charles Albert Prose Sr. April 23, 1946. He preceded her in death Aug. 31, 1988.

A resident of Ottumwa most of her life, she had attended Bethany Baptist Church and had been a volunteer for the Pork Producers.

Surviving are three sons, Charles (Jeannette) Prose Jr. of Hollister, Mo., Paul (Julee) Prose and David (Barbara) Prose both of Ottumwa; a daughter, Judy (late Rusty) Markham of Ocala, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Jeffery (Michele) Prose of Galena, Mo., Brian Prose of Hollister, Mo., Duane (Gina) Fuller of Suffolk, Va., Ronda (Bob) Elias of Omaha, Neb., Adam (Marci) Prose, Stefanie (John III) Paxton, Sarah (Cory) Salter all of Ottumwa, Robert (Heidi) Prose of Waverly; 11 great-grandchildren, Amy and Austin Prose, Candace and Reed Elias, Kaitlin, Garrett and Joseph Fuller, Elaine and Izabella Prose, Jordyn Salter and John Paxton IV; two sisters, Maxine Beck of Des Moines and Mary Louise Johnson of Ottumwa.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Selix officiating. Burial will be in the Chillicothe Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday with the family present from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Good Samaritan Nursing and Rehab Center Special Unit.
