CHRISTOPHER HUSTON

Christopher Huston died at his home, No. 222 East Holt street, at 10:30 o'clock this morning after an illness of but a few days' duration. The arrangements for the funeral have not yet been completed.. Christopher Huston was born in Southern Ireland, August 15, 1840, and emigrated to this country when but 12 years of age. He landed in New York City and shortly afterward went to Monmouth, Ill., where he lived until he attained his twentieth year. He then went eastward again and located in Providence, R.I., where he stayed for about three years. Considering that the western country offered better advantages, Mr. Huston came to Ottumwa, which has ever since been his home. On September 11, 1875, he was married to Miss Bridget Gallagher, of this city, and to this union were born four children, who with the wife and mother still survive him. The children are John, aged 18, Thomas, aged 14, Christopher, aged 11, and Henry aged 4. For fourteen years Mr. Huston was employed as salesman in two clothing stores in this city and after financial reverses had overtaken the proprietors, Mr. Huston sought employment in the Milwaukee roundhouse in this city, where last December he met with an accident, which resulted in an injury to one of his limbs. He was removed to his home and soon after caught cold. Complications ensued, from the result of which death occurred this morning. Mr. Huston was an upright citizen and was well and favorably known by a majority of the people of this place.
