Leukemia Fatal to Ottumwa Girl

Connie Lou Rounceville 11, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Frank Rounceville, died at the State University Hospital at Iowa City at 2:20 a.m. today.

The family home is at 933 Sherman Street. The little girl was a victim of leukemia, a blood disease. She had been ill about a year.

She was born in Ottumwa February 19, 1946. She was a fifth grade pupil at Hedrick School. She attended the Benton Street Pentecostal church and the Salvation Army.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by five brothers; Jack Rounceville in the Air Force at Dayton, Ohio; Larry, Michael, Frank Jr. and Martin Rounceville; all at home; three sisters; Mrs. Valetta Lamb of Cedar Rapids, and Rita and Sandra Rounceville all of home. Also surviving are her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Shedenhelm of Ottumwa.

A brother and sister died in infancy. Her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. James Rounceville also preceded her in death.

Funeral services for Connie will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Johnson funeral chapel and the Rev. Mabel Grimes of the Benton Street Pentecostal church will be in charge.

Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert Grimes, William Grimes, Jason Grimes, George Grimes,William Gillman and Larry Hughes.

Transcriber note:
Connie was a childhood friend of mine. We lived on Pershing Avenue and played often together. I think of her very often. "JESUS LOVES YOU YES I KNOW" was our favorite song to sing in church together.
