OTTUMWA — Dorothy Garman Grooms, 92, of Ridgewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, died at 4:23 a.m. April 15, 2007 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.

Dorothy was born July 18, 1914 in Livonia, Mo., the daughter of John Franklin and Sarah B. Crafton Garman. She married Spurgeon A. Grooms July 3, 1930 in Sigourney. Spurgeon passed away Dec. 27, 2003.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Reece Funeral Home with Rev. George Edgerly officiating. Burial will be in the Chisman Cemetery at Christianburg, Iowa.

Visitation will begin after 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Reece Funeral Home with the family present from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorials may be made to First Pentecostal Assembly of God, 733 Church St., Ottumwa,Ia 52501.

She was a member of First Pentecostal Assembly of God.

Mrs. Grooms was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved to cook and bake and was known among her family and friends for her famous light rolls. Her family and numerous friends knew her best for her deep religious faith, her great generosity and willingness to assist others. Her 73-year marriage to Spurgeon was the center of her life.

Survivors include her children and their spouse, Nadine G. & Robert Stufflebeam of Overland Park, Kan.; sons Don & Lois H. Grooms of Cedar Rapids, Tom & Zilpha W. Grooms of East Moline, Ill.; six grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; one great great grandson and one great great granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her grandson, Dr. James Grooms; three brothers, Ora, Ernest and Bill Garman; two sisters, Alma and Sylvia Brewer and her half-sister,
