Sherry Bower, 62, Ottumwa Courier

OTTUMWA — Sherry Lea Bower, 62, of 3932 180th Ave. went to be with the Lord at 12:52 p.m. April 8, 2007, at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center.

She was born Feb. 4, 1945 near Linby in Jefferson Co., Iowa to Clarence and Magdalen Clark Garrels, Sr. She married Kenneth Bower Sept. 21, 1963.

She was a homemaker and helped her husband on the farm. She attended Ottumwa Baptist Temple. She loved her children and grandchildren and anyone who knew her, loved her.

Surviving is her husband; a son, Michael (Deanna) Bower of Ottumwa; a daughter, Malinda Bower of Ottumwa; five grandchildren, Courtney, Clayton and Colton LaPoint, Brittnee and Miranda Bower; two sisters, Ulala (Orville) Conger of Fairfield, Coletta Schimmelpfennig of Mount Pleasant; four brothers, Clark (Barbara) Garrels of Waldon, Texas, Jim (Fran) Garrels of Sun City, Ariz., Bernard (Carol) Garrels of Clinton and Larry Garrels of Osceola; three half brothers, Clarence (Marci) Garrels, Jr. of Hedrick, Ronnie (Susan) Garrels of Farson and Bill (Peggy) Garrels of Ollie; a stepsister, Cindy Kirkhart of Ottumwa; and a stepbrother, David “Butch” Smith of Kirkville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and an infant son, Tony.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Miller officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.

Visitation will begin after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
