Clifford C. Strunk 71 of 107 N. Vine died today at 6:25 a.m. at Sunnyslope Sanatoriam following an illness of 22 months.

Mr. Strunk had been an employee of John Morrell and Company for 15 years prior to his retirement in 1957. Before that he had been an auto salesman at Akerman Auto Co, for several years.

He was the son of John and Frona Downing Strunk born May 8, 1892 in Davis County. He had been a resident of Ottumwa for the past 35 years.

He was married to Adeline Moore, July 21, 1913 at West Grove. She survives.

Also sirviving are one son Max Strunk of Ottumwa; three daughters; Mrs. Jewel Brown, Mrs. Helen Grooms, and Mrs. Blanche Petterman all of Ottumwa; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ernest of Los Angeles, Oakle of Blakesburg and Frank of Ottumwa; three sisters, Mrs. Alice Benge of Grant, Neb, Mrs. Mossie Hyde of Phoeniz, Ariz., and Mrs. Cleo Brooks of Portland, Ore.

Preceding him in death was one son in infancy.

The service will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Chapel in charge of Rev. A.L. Langhoff of the First Luthern Church.Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery. The casket will be closed at the beginning of the service. [Edit Bio]
