MUNTERVILLE.
MUNTERVILLE, OCT 5NELS HALL, SR., deceased, was born in Sweden January 14, 1810, emigrated to America in the year 1854, where he resided in Moline, Ill., for one year, after which he came to his home south of Munterville in the year 1855, where he has resided ever since, with the exception of five years, when he lived with his daughter, MRS. PERRY SWENSON, near Red Oak. He had always been a very strong, healthy, hard-working man and upright and honest in all his dealings and well liked by all his neighbors. MRS PERRY SWENSON of Red Oak came last week to assist MR. HALL, JR., to care for him in his last illness, and returned to home today. MR. HALL, SR. leaves five children mourn his death. They are NELS HALL, JR. of Willard; MRS. H. P. (HANNAH) OAKLEY and MRS. C. J. (EMMA) CARLSON of Moline, Ill.; MRS. PERRY (AUGUSTA) SWENSON of Red Oak, and JOHN HALL of Bertrand, Neb. MRS. PERRY SWENSON was the only one to be able to attend his burial with the family of NELS HALL, JR. MR. HALL, SR., was the oldest Swedish settler in this vicinity, having reached the ripe old age of 91 years.
Comment: NELS HALL, SR. deceased on September 30, 1901 at Munterville, Iowa at the age of 91 years 8 months and 16 days. He was married to CECELIA (aka SISLY) GUNISON in Sweden. NELS and SISLY came to America with their six children. Son, WILLIAM died at the age of 29 in the Montana Territory where he is buried. SISLY is buried near Moline, Illinois. No other information is known about SISLY or son WILLIAM.
