Darrell, I might be able to provide you with a direction for your research. My greatgreat grandmother was Elizabeth Holmes, b. Oct 1846 in Hamilton county, OH, daughter of Reuben Clark Holmes (RC Holmes) and Elizabeth Purdy. The family had relocated to Ohio from Seneca NY by 1820 and remained there until about 1854, when they moved to HarrisonTsp, Lee Co IA. My gggrandmother is later found in VanBuren Co. REUBEN seems to be a popular and common name found in this family. I personally have not research sibling lines but you might want to contact Sharen Dyer at sharen_dyer@yahoo.com. She is researching the entire Holmes line. Good Luck.
