FINDLAY, WHITFIELD

Looking for information on Alexander Findlay and Margaret (Whitfield) Findlay. Resided in Douds,Ia Van Buren County,from 1840? to deaths in 1901 and 1904. Buried in Zion Lutheran Cemetery. And then their son, Clyde William Findlay, my Grandfather,who was according to my record, born May 31,1882 in Douds, Iowa. I believe he was adopted, but have no record of that. Trying to establish indian ancestry of Clyde. He was by all appearances of indian heritage. Cherokee, I believe. Does anyone know of tribes or paticulars of indians residing in the area 1870-80?
