My great-great grandfather, Caleb Smith, married Harriett Ross Moore, and lived in Iowa from 1856-1859 and again after the Civil War. I don't know if they are any relation on either side. Her sister was in Van Buren County --a Johnson during all that time. If this helps, I can send you all the family Bible information. The patriarch of the family was Milby Smith-- they came from Maryland via Ohio and Indiana.
