Would like to establish date Augustus Bradford Jackson came to Van Buren co. He was married in 1830 in Indiana and 1840 census lists him and family in Iowa territory. Thought of have been a farmer and/or a minister in the United Brethern Church. Wife Maria(h) d. in 1848, he remarried Melinda Jane Ware, 18 June 1848 in Bonaparte.
Five children by first wife (Louisa Jane 1833 - 1910, Merriene 1837, Charlotte E. 1841-1913, Matthew Murray 1846 - 1863, and Cornelia Adeline 1849 - 1905). Two children by second, (Edward b. 1851, and Maud W. 1866 – 1930). All but the oldest Louisa are believed to have been born in Van Buren county in or near Bonaparte and Harrisburg.
He is believed to have migrated west in the 1870's with wife Melinda Jane Ware and daughter Maud. He died 12 Sep 1883 in Drain, OR where his oldest Louisa settled with her husband John Hedrick in 1852.
Any help gratefully appreciated. Thanks.
