Hi, I have found a Robert McCausland who married a Rebecca Neiswanger, a widow, probably right before the 1850 census. It appears that they each had a son when they married, but Robert and this son died before the 1860 census was taken. He was a carpenter. I do not know anything else in particular about Robert. But Rebecca and Robert had a son named William together and he was born in 1858. This William never seems to have married and lived with his mother until her death. He is listed on the 1910 census as a merchant in a shoestore. I don't know if this is anyone connected with the line you are researching, but I hope this helps.
