William Schults

Looking for information about William Schults who lived in Davis County, Iowa in the mid 1860s. William had a son named either Issac Shelby or Richard. The son was born 03 Aug 1866 reportedly in Davis County. William Schults married Sarah Ellen Pollock in Wapello County 20 Jul 1871 but he and Sarah had previously taken out a marriage license in Davis county in 1869 or 1870. I am trying to determine whether William had a first wife who was the mother of Issac Shelby or Richard or if Sarah Ellen Pollock was the Issac's mother and he was born prior to the marriage of William and Sarah.

William Schults was reportedly born in Ohio in about 1836 but I have not other information on him.

William Schults was a miner and came to Iowa from Ohio so it is quite possible that he was in Van Buren County prior to Davis County.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
