We are sorry to report the death of Walter Rockeyfellow [sic], which occurred at their residence last Tuesday morning about 8 o’clock of intermittent malaria fever. He was buried last Wednesday afternoon in the Thompson cemetery in the presence of a very large and sorrowful crowd of relatives and friends. Age about 21 years.

“Died”

At his home in Bonaparte, Aug. 5th, 1890, David Walter, only son of J. D. and Mary Rockafellow, aged 20 years, 8 months and 4 days.

His death was occasioned by intermittent malarial fever, from which he endured great suffering for two weeks. Walter was a very bright young man, whose memory will not only be precious in the home circle, but with all his associates. None but those who have experienced the same can know the depth of sorrow in the hearts of the bereaved family. He was buried Wednesday. Sermon preached by J. F. Jenkins of Farmington. His body was laid away in the Thompson Cemetery. A very large assemblage testified their sorrow and respect by their presence. This removal of Walter from the family and community is particularly sad, and the afflicted family have the sympathy of a very large circle of friends. He leaves a father, mother, and four sisters to mourn his loss.

David Walter Rockefellow was the brother of my grandmother, Carrie Maude Rockefellow Lowe. I would enjoy exchanging information with others related to this family.
