Jean Frances Saar Dahms Whitcanack, 80, of donnellson, died Thursday, September 11, 2003.

Born August 13, 1923, at Bayrd, Nebraska, she was the daughter of Hollis(dick) and Mary Dyer Saar. On January 26, 1944, she married Hubert Dahms, in Cantril. He died March 22, 1978. On April 3, 1987, she married Richard Whitcanack in Donnellson. He died May 29, 1996.

Mrs. Whitcanack was owner of Dahms Chevrolet Inc. for 24 years.

She grew up in Cantril.She was a charter board member of Green Acres Country Club, charter member of the CK chapter of TTT Society. She was a member of the care review committee for Southeast Iowa Area on Aging Inc., was a past member of the Eastern Star and a member of Gillaspey-Moodie American Legion Auxiliary 474. She served on the Donnellson Library board and was librarian for several years. She was an active host family for the American Field Services. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ.

Survivors include two sons, Scott Dahms of Westerville, Ohio, and Bill Dahms of Donnellson; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; and three sisters, Jane Annis Kerr of Ottumwa, Dorothy Launders of Henderson, Nevada, and Hollie Volpp of Fresno, California.

Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, Dorothy and Carolyn, and one daughterin-law.

The funeral for Mrs Whitcanack was held Sunday, September 14, 2003, at St. Paul's United Churchh of Christ. Burial was in Evangelical Cemetery in Donnellson.

Memeorials have been established for the donnellson Library and Donnellso Sports Complex.
