James Christy, Esq., of Lick Creek township, died very suddenly Friday night last. He was born in Washington county, Penn., on the 17th of February, 1792. He removed from there to Ohio, and came from Rumley county Ohio, to Keosauqua in 1840. The next year he moved his family to this territory, locating at Bonaparte. He lived there about three years and then bought the farm in Lick Creek township where he has since lived. Mr. Christy was a man of a bright, active mind, and lived and died respected by all. He was the father of Hon. Thos. Christy and Mrs. W. J. Johnson and Mrs. Harvey Robb, of Bonaparte.
