During the night of Tuesday, March 1, 1904, Gustav Noske quietly passed from earth. He had been ill having attended the funeral of Adam Stuhlman on the preceding Tuesday, on which day he took cold and his condition became so serious that Dr. Maxwell was called in consultation with the Farmington physicians.
He was born at Deutch Neu Keurch, Prussia, May 14, 1831, and came to St. Louis in 1853 where he married Johanna Sippel. They came to Farmington in 1858 and there on August 8, 1903, they celebrated their golden wedding.
There were born five sons and one daughter, viz. Otto and Albert, who are deceased, Miss Bertie and Gustav of Farmington, and Emil and William of Bonaparte. The aged wife lives to mourn the loss of a kind husband.
At the beginning of the Civil war he enlisted as Brigade Saddler in Co. B. 3nd [sic] Reg. Iowa Vol. Cavalry under Col. O. H. P. Scott and remained in the service until honorably discharged in 1865.
Returning from the war he opened a harness shop on Front street and conducted same for about years. [# years left out of article] He was a member of the St. John's Lutheran church where the funeral services were held Friday at 2 p. m. conducted by Rev. J. E. Bierkner of Primrose.
