Thos. J. Jack
Thos. J. Jack, well known in this county, died at his home in Ft. Madison Sunday, May 23, 1909, after an illness of several months with cancer of the stomach. He was aged 66, 9 months and 25 days.
Mr. Jack was born in Marietta, Ohio and came to Iowa in 1857, locating at Vernon. He went from Vernon to Ft. Madison nineteen years ago and since has been employed at the Ft. Madison Plow Co. works, successors to the Morrison Mfg. Co. He was a member of the M.E. church and also of Empire Lodge, No. 32, I.O.O.F.
Mr. Jack was a good citizen and highly respected by his many friends in the county. He is survived by the wife, Mrs. Rachel Jack, and one son and one daughter.
Funeral services were held at the residence Tuesday evening at 7:30 and on the following day the body was taken to Bentonsport where interment was made.
