Mrs. C. P. Young.
Josephine Harriet Chapman was born in Washington, Mason county Kentucky, May 30, 1839, and departed this life at her late home near Bonaparte, Iowa August 20, 1909, aged 70 years, 2 months and 20 days.
When four years old she came with her parents to what was then the Territory or Iowa. The family settled near Danville, Des Moines county, where they remained two and one-half years, then removed to Van Buren county where the remainder of her life was spent.
April 11, 1863 she was united in marriage to C.P. Young and for almost half a century they shared together the joys and sorrows of life.
To this union was born one daughter who, with the bereaved husband, one grandson, four sisters and two brothers, survives her.
Of a modest, retiring disposition, with a loyal faithfulness to friends and with kindly thoughts toward all, she counted her friends by her acquaintances.
A true and faithful wife, a tender mother and grandmother, a loving sister, has passed over the river to that home beyond in “the land that is fairer than day.”
Funeral services were held at Sharon on Sunday, Rev. Trenerry officiating.
