Mrs.John Lightfoot.

Mary Goodin was born in Perry county, Ohio, Nov. 25, 1840, died in Farmington, Iowa, July 7, 1908.

In 1844 she with her parents moved from Ohio to Iowa, settling on a farm in Lee County, near Donnellson, where she resided until her marriage to John Lightfoot on Dec. 24, 1867. Mr. and Mrs. Lightfoot moved from the farm to Farmington in the fall of 1876, and resided here for about a year, when they went to Bonaparte and conducted a hotel there for some time, moving from there back to the farm. On March 1, 1893, they returned to Farmington and have since made this place there home.

Besides her husband she leaves one brother, Wm. Goodin, of Farmington; three half brothers, Ed, Al and Charley, living at Wichita, Kan., as well as a large circle of friends and neighbors to mourn their loss.

Mrs. Lightfoot, while not a member of any religious denomination was a true Christian woman, respected and loved by all who knew her, generally attended services at the Baptist church. A true and loving wife, a kind and generous neighbor, ever ready and willing to lend a helping hand to the sick or needy, and possessing all the attributes that make a real womanly woman, Mary Lightfoot was held in the highest esteem by all, who while they deplore her departure from their midst, feel sure that her life of Christian virtue will find its reward in the life to come.

Funeral services were held Thursday morning at the home, conducted by the Rev. J. C. Shipp, with interrment in the Sharon Cemetery.
