FREDERICK J. HELLWIG
Frederick John Hellwig, son of George Valentine and Catherine Frank Hellwig, was born in Philadelphia, Penn., April 17, 1862, and died at his farm home near Farmington, Iowa, Dec. 8, 1948.
With his parents he came to Iowa at the age of 8 years and spent his entire on the farm where they located, except for one year spent in Farmington.
Mr. Hellwig was united in marriage to Maggie F. Simmons, October 8, 1891. To this union 4 children were born, Laurence and Harry, deceased. He was also preceded in death by his wife, his parents, six brothers and one sister.
He is survived by two children, Mrs. Laura Johns and Roy at home; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
He was a member of the Story Chapel Methodist Church.
Mr. Hellwig was a quiet, friendly man, always ready to lend a helping hand to those who needed help. He had been ill the past year and seriously ill the past few weeks.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2:00 at Story Chapel Church with interment in the cemetery there. The Rev. John S. Ellis conducted the service.
