Died
On Thursday night, January 11, of a chronic case of rheumatism, Mary, daughter of A. H. Woods, aged about thirty years. She was an invalid for many hears and a great sufferer. She had not walked for 14 years. The last time she made the effort to walk was between the hollidays(sic) of 1869; and for 12 years she was unable to eat one morsel or take a sup of water except as it was given by others' hands. She was always patient in her sufferings, which were, evidently, sanctified to her good. She was led to indulge hope in the Savior and often expressed uncomplainingly, the desire in the evening, that she might go home before morning. The night before she died, her mind was clear and she talked to all about the future life and her hope was full of comfort. She was another example of the tenacity with which we hold to life in the midst of intense sufferings. But at last the "silver cord was loosed and the golden bowl broken" and she passed away.
The occasion was improved by a sermon from Eld. D. L. Clouse to a large concourse of friends and neighbors, when the body of the dear sufferer was borne to the grave in Bonaparte cemetary.
