Martha Merrill Coolidge 1814-1891

Martha W. Coolidge, daughter of Edward and Betsy Merrill, was born in Norway?, Maine, December 1st, 1814. She was married to Orlando Coolidge March 8th, 1837. They removed the same year to Winnebago county, Ill., and in 1866 removed to Bonaparte. Her husband died in May 1867, and she was called to join him March 18, 1891.

She left behind her three brothers, three children and several grand children to mourn her departure.

The funeral services were held at her late residence, March 19th. Rev. E. Y. Carl of the M. E. church, read a passage of scripture, offered prayer, and a choir sang "The Sweet Bye and Bye," after which the friends and relatives viewed the remains, when she was laid to rest in the Bonaparte cemetery.
