Mary Perkins Edwards 1840-1891

At her home in Bonaparte, Iowa, March 26, 1891, Mrs. Mary F. Edwards, aged 50 years, 5 months and 12 days.

Her maiden name was Perkins, she being the daughter of Joseph F. and Eliza Perkins, her mother being the first wife of J. F. Perkins. She was born near Bonaparte, Iowa, October 14, 1840. When about twenty years of age she united with the Christian church at Mt. Sterling, Iowa, and never severed her connection with that church. She was married to John B. Edwards November 28th, 1865.

Mrs. Edwards was highly respected in the community, was a loving companion and mother. She leaves to mourn their loss, her husband, one son, one grandson, her father, one sister and four brothers.

The funeral took place from the Baptist church in Bonaparte, March 27, 1891, Rev. G. W. Barber, of Selma, conducting the service , and preached a very earnest sermon. Mrs. Edwards death was a surprise to this community, as all though she was recovering, but death came and claimed her as his own.
